AmCan to hold free music festival

AMERICAN CANYON - They all serve the community and raise money for good causes, and so organizers said it made sense for churches, social services and service clubs to band together and hold one big party.
That event will be the American Canyon Community Music Festival, an afternoon of fun, food, games and information.
The free event takes place noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at Donaldson Way Community Park.
Kiwanis Club president Victor Rivera said his club considered staging a festival on its own, but then it was suggested the organization work with other groups and put on one big event.
The festival's focus is fun and entertainment, and will also allow a wide variety of social service groups, businesses and others to raise funds through a raffle and sale of refreshments.
"I love music and I love art and I love my community. I think this is going to be a great event," Rivera said.
"American Canyon does things that are very small-town-ish. We think this will be a combination of everyone coming together," he said.

another, and for the event not to detract from other community fundraisers.
Some organizations involved in the festival include the American Canyon Troops Support, the Lions Club, Family Resource Center, American Canyon Baptist Church, Holy Family Parish and American Canyon Arts Foundation, among others.
The Chamber of Commerce is lining up a "VIP" section where participants will be served wine and food in style.
The chamber is also staging a unique fundraiser called "Outfit Your Outhouse." Businesses, individuals or groups will sponsor a Porta Potty and get a chance to decorate them.
A number of musical bands have been lined up for the afternoon's entertainment, including a country and western band, a jazz trio and a 40-piece swing band to salute veterans. The American Canyon Middle School Band, which has won a number of awards, will also perform.
Residents from the Veterans Home of California at Yountville will be transported to the festival.
Local politicians running for office in November will also be given space to pass out information to voters.
For more information on the event call Victor Rivera at 647-1792.
To be a vendor at the festival call Cori at 648-3324.
For details on the Chamber of Commerce's VIP section or its "Outfit Your Outhouse" fundraiser call 552-3650.

Post by VicRiv »

From Today's American Canyon Eagle:

American Canyon Music Festival

There’s something new in town for everyone. A free, fun-filled family event for all ages. The American Canyon Music Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from noon to 6 p.m. at Donaldson Way Community Park, corner of Donaldson Way and Benton Way. The event has been organized by local non profit and community service organizations as a fund raising event for local community. All proceeds will directly benefit the citizenry of American Canyon.

The planning committee has pulled together a number of local organizations in a collaborative effort to fund raise together. Participants included the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Clubs of American Canyon and Suisun City, Lions Club, Family Resource Center, American Canyon Troop Support, Holy Family Parish, American Canyon Baptist Church, Fil-Am Club and American Canyon Arts Foundation among others.

The music play list has lined up a number of bands for the entertainment ranging from Jazz and Western to a forty piece Big Band and Rock, who will have a special tribute to military veterans being bused in from Yountville. Featured performers will be Michelle Michaels Trio, Dry Creek Western Bank, Diablo Valley Band, Voltones, First Ladies Hula Dancers and the ACMS band.

A VIP section will be available for nominal entrance fee for those who would like to be served wine and food in a catered atmosphere. Vender sponsorship for booth space is available as well. The Chamber of Commerce is trying something new and unique as well in fundraising. It’s called “Outfit Your Outhouse “ where anyone, businesses, groups or individuals can sponsor a Porta Pottey and have a chance to apply their creative talents in decorating it.

For more information call Victor Rivera at 647-1792. To be a vendor sponsorship call Cori Badertscher at 648-3324. For details on the Chamber of Commerce VIP section call 552-3650.
