AC Sports Venues Need To Come Together...
To best address everyone's concerns regarding sports fields and amenities have the board of director's of the little league, soccer league, football league and any other league come together to discuss their needs? To prioritize their wish list? First and foremost would be that the fields are safe for the children's use. Then you start with the extras. Lights at the Little League field have been a desire of this community for years. Everyone hates when a close game is called due to darkness. But is that a priority compared to other venues request? Playgrounds at each field for Kimberly Park to me would be the lowest priority. If you are at the park for an extended period of time, think ahead and prepare other activities for you children. Is it really the responsibility of the taxpayers to entertain your child while you watch a game? Parents are paying a good amount of money for their children to participate in each sport, where is that money going? My suggestion would be to bring your members together and prioritize your requests, taking in account everyone's needs, then present those requests to the Parks Commission as a UNITED group.

In case you didn't realize there is about 500 homes in the nearby area with no playground. The nearest one is near the police substation and it is find for 2 and under. If the playground was thought out well, the city would make it like the one at Waterton. They could rent the facilities when games are not going on. Generating income to pay for itself.Guest wrote:Playgrounds at each field for Kimberly Park to me would be the lowest priority. For the record I don't have any children playing soccer or any other sports in the community. But I believe that you should create environments that give children a reason to stay away from all the bad things life has to offer. Sports and other recreation is just one way. When you have a public park "families" spend time together. So what's wrong with that.
Playgrounds
I have no problem with there being a large playground at the soccer field, however, I do question each soccer field area at Kimberly having it's own play area.

a play ground for each?
I don't recall anyone saying a playfround for each soccer field. I have gone to games at kimberely park and there is typically 4 games going on at the same time. I think there should be bleachers for each field. 1 playground, 1 snack shack, plenty of parking and lighting. The BBQ area could be away of bring money into the parks & recs funds.
