School Traffic at ACHS

Post by Issa »

It’s that time of year again! With school back in session, we are experiencing an increase in traffic congestion all around town, especially around schools during the drop-off and pick-up times. Please remember to slow down and drive with care around schools.

We know the conditions around ACHS are worse this year because of the on-going construction on Newell Dr. We apologize for the inconvenience! In an effort to improve the situation, we will be making changes to the traffic control, specifically the driveway opposite Silver Oak. Starting tomorrow, during the morning drop-off, the outbound right turn lane will be blocked off with cones. The only option will be to turn left or go straight. Drivers wishing to travel northbound on Newell Dr. will need to utilize the more southerly campus driveway. Alternatively, drivers can go proceed straight (west) on Silver Oak and then turn right (north) onto Shenandoah (in order to get to Donaldson Way).

The City will continue to monitor the situation and implement any further changes as needed. The contractor is working as fast as they can and we anticipate things returning to normal when the work is done in late September. Unfortunately, they City cannot delay their start time to begin after the morning drop-off, because then it will take even longer for them to finish the job. Thank you for your continued patience.
