BENICIA, CA. (April 6, 2015) - The Benicia Certified Farmers’ Market, BCFM, opens its 23rd season on Thursday, April 30th from 4-8pm. Located on First Street between B and D Streets, the seasonal market will run through October 29th, offering farm fresh produce and fresh cut flowers along with arts and crafts vendors, specialty foods, baked goods, and numerous gourmet food vendors. Children can enjoy activities like face painting and the inflatable bounce house on the First Street Green.

For its second year, BCFM will be accepting CalFresh EBT cards (formerly known as Food Stamps). The market’s goal is to offer fresh fruits, vegetables and other eligible products to families who receive EBT benefits. EBT recipients can purchase tokens specific to the BCFM, valued at $1 each, from Benicia Main Street’s booth.

Averaging 3,500 people at the market, many farmers’ market faithfuls come weekly to socialize with neighbors, enjoy great music from local talent, and experience the bounty of California-grown fruits and vegetables. Faithful goers can take advantage of the “Frequent Shopper Card” program. The Frequent Shopper Card can be picked up at Benicia Main Street’s booth. After eight hole punches, frequent shoppers get a free small bag of the “Produce of the Week” from Benicia Main Street.

A list of participating vendors is provided on the Benicia Main Street’s website at www.BeniciaMainStreet.org. For more information on Benicia Certified Farmers’ Market, contact Benicia Main Street at 707-745-9791 or info@beniciamainstreeet.org.
