Trader Joes

It would be my desire to have a Trader Joes in American Canyon too. However, it is my understanding that their business model requires a population of about 100,000 for them to consider a market. Napa only made it because of the proximity of American Canyon and Yountville. But lets let our voice be ...

Endorsements

Paul, I thought we could communicate here like professional responsible business people. We have in the past and for that I respected you. But now you have crossed the line with your comments and innuendos. The Chamber does not need to defend itself. It chose to endorse the candidates that it felt w...

Paul, I understand and appreciate your concern regarding the actions of the Chamber of Commerce. As a Board member, I will address this at our next meeting and work on some policy moving forward. I know this doesn't help for this election. I appreciate your input. If you would like to speak to me ab...

Endorsements

Paul, I am referring to all of the Union Endorsements that are showing up on printed material in parts of the city. I know specifically that I was not interviewed by the Letter Carriers Union NLCC, but in fact they have shown up on endorsements on printed material for American Canyon Candidates. Thi...

Chamber Endorsement

Just to clarify one thing. Leon Garcia is a member of the Chamber of Commerce as an individual, as anyone can be. He does not hold a seat on the Board of Directors or an officer position. Dale Osmond is the CEO, and Larry Kudnra is the Chairman of the Board. As for the endorsement. While I have been...

RE: Spin Town A/C

RRRey, Not only am I a Planning Commissioner, but I am also a private citizen, and as such, I have as much right as you or anyone else to speak my opinion. My opinion as stated was that the Union Pacific piece did not warrant consideration because they have failed many times over the years to partic...

RE: Solutions

Victor, Thank you for taking the time to post these questions. Q1) Traffic-how do we fix the highway corridor to accomodate traffic? A1) The dynamic of traffic in American Canyon is that most of it is not from our city. So I see one of the fixes is to work on local access for us the locals. The exte...

Answer to Blue Jay

The $125 million dollar school came into existance over a series of meetings that took place last year. If you remember there was a public outreach to get residents involved in the Planning. The first few meetings were wish list items. Then the meetings were more focused on cirriculum needs and faci...

Curious, I am not sure what you are referring to when you say we had $125 million in donations already secured. My understanding and Victor has done a good job of breaking it down, is that the bond is for $183 Million of which the NVUSD would use $125 million to build a high school in American Canyo...

Answers to Questions

smartamcan, First of all thank you for your thoughtful questions. It is important for all of the candidates to know what is important to you, and what we think are some solutions. Q1)Where do you see the Oat Hill Plan(That's the area North of Eucalyptus and west of Theresa) as far as build out time ...

RE: Chamber of Commerce Endorsement

George, I am a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. When the action was taken to endorse candidates, I had recused myself from that portion of the meeting, and in fact was not in the room when the vote was taken. So as for me nominating myself, you are grossly mistaken. If members o...

RE: Bamboozled Cont.

I am sorry, I overlooked your zoning question. The zoning in my opinion was nothing more than and excercise in bereaucratic futility. Zoning was not actually changed on any of the parcels, just the units per acre. Under the old zoning the zoning allowed a minimum of 16 untis per acre and a maximum o...

RE: Bamboozled

Mr. RioRanchoRey, I did have a good trip. Thank you. Over the last few years I have taken the time to get to know Mr. Butler and asked him many questions about his project and what it will mean to American Canyon. While I know Buzz has been mis-quoted on occassion, I don't recall a time where he sta...

Information regarding tax revenue for Napa Junction

RioRanchRey, My apologies for my late reply. I was out of town last week. I will attempt to clarify some of the confusion over the projected tax revenue for the Napa Junction Project as I understand it. As you know there are three phases to Napa Junction. Phase I being mixed use residential, commerc...

Campaigning

Dear Curious, There are many reasons for Ed and I campaigning together. One is to take advantage of Economies of Scale. Bottom line is it saves us money, and it saves you time by only having to attend one event to hear from more than one candidate. We have also discussed sponsoring our own candidate...

City Council Candidate

My name is Don Callison and I am a candidate for City Council. Some of you may know me, and others may not. Some of my history. I have lived here since 1995. I have been active in city politics from about day one. My first venture was to attend city council meetings and community meetings when redev...
