Thanks for your response...I like your supper idea but how about us single parents. Also, use to love to get together with several parents and play cards, "Hearts" maybe a night of dinner, cards and gossip?

over the hill,too.

This is definitely a targeted group which still has vitality and if the kids are gone..there is usually extra income.
You can check with the recreation department on Benson for:
- adult basketball league.
- (I believe) ballroom dancing started in town
- yoga
- casino trips sponsored by the city

There are civic clubs:
-Kiwanis is probably the most active and vibrant
-Lions is definitely one of the older groups in town
-Soroptomist

My wife and I were talking about having about 6-7 couples get together for a supper club. We would share favorite dishes and converse about all the great things and people in town.

REMEMBER, FRIDAY, SEPT 2 is "Welcome to American Canyon" night at Friday Night at the Plaza. All community and civic groups are going to be present. It's from 6:00-9:00pm.

Hope this helps!

I think that all of the areas being discussed by the Parks & Rec Dept. are important ( Senior activities, new parks & fields, trails, etc. ) However, I do feel that the middle aged residents ( hate that term ) are not provided with many social activities. We were the volunteers for soccer, baseball, PTA's of 10 to 15 years ago. Our children are raised or off to college. We do have extra time and could use recreation or social programs. We're not quite ready for bingo, but we know that day is coming! I would like to see, on this forum, possible suggestions for us "Over the Hill Gang" residents.
